April has a different kind of energy.
It’s not the pressure of January.
It’s not the slowdown of summer.
It’s the middle.
And the middle is where most people drift.
They’re not starting fresh…
but they’re also not finishing strong.
They’re just… busy.
If you’ve been feeling that lately—
busy, pulled in different directions, saying yes to things you’re not even sure matter anymore—this is your moment.
Not to do more.
But to decide better.
A Personal Note (Because This Matters)
Before we go any further, I want to say this:
If your energy has felt low lately… you are not alone.
This season, for me, has felt heavier than usual.
Not in a dramatic way—but in that steady, underlying way where things just feel a little harder than they should.
And here’s what I’ve noticed:
When my energy is high, everything feels easier.
Decisions come quicker. Action feels natural.
But when my energy is low?
That’s when it actually matters most how I show up.
Because if I rely on how I feel… I stall.
So instead, I’ve been leaning into something different:
Systems. Commitments. Conviction.
Not motivation. Not waiting to feel ready.
Because energy will fluctuate.
But the direction you’re moving in doesn’t have to.
The Trap High Performers Fall Into
Most of the people I work with don’t struggle with motivation.
They struggle with discernment.
You have ideas. Opportunities. Invitations.
You’re capable of a lot.
But here’s the truth:
Not everything that is good is right for you right now.
And if you don’t decide that on purpose…
your calendar will decide for you.
Where Are You Leaking Energy?
Take a minute and ask yourself:
- What am I currently saying yes to out of habit?
- Where am I overexplaining instead of standing in my decision?
- What am I doing that looks productive but isn’t actually moving anything forward?
This is where your energy is going.
Not in big, obvious ways…
but in small, constant leaks.
And over time, those leaks cost you clarity, momentum, and confidence.
April Reset: The Discernment Filter
Before you say yes to anything this month—pause and run it through this filter:
1. Is this aligned with where I’m actually going?
(Not where I’ve been… not what I “should” do… but where I’m going.)
2. Does this require the version of me I’m becoming—or keep me stuck in who I’ve been?
3. If I say yes to this, what am I saying no to?
Because every yes has a cost.
The question is whether it’s a cost you’re willing to pay.
This Is What Leadership Actually Looks Like
Leadership isn’t just showing up.
It’s choosing intentionally.
It’s having the courage to:
- Say no without overexplaining
- Let go of what no longer fits
- Stop performing for approval
- Make decisions before you feel “ready”
Because here’s the reality:
Ready isn’t a feeling. It’s a decision.
What This Looks Like in Real Life
It might look like:
- Turning down an opportunity that would have impressed people—but drains you
- Having a conversation you’ve been avoiding
- Simplifying your priorities instead of adding more
- Finally acting on the idea you keep pushing off
And sometimes—especially in a lower energy season—it simply looks like:
- Following through on what you already committed to
- Letting your systems carry you when motivation won’t
- Acting from conviction instead of waiting for a feeling
None of this is dramatic.
But it is powerful.
Your Next Step
Don’t leave this as something you just read.
Decide something today.
One thing you’re no longer available for.
One thing you’re finally moving toward.
That’s how momentum actually builds.
